Education is paramount at My First English Adventure Bilingual Center and so is our commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for every child. The Center offers a bilingual education and classroom environments that serve the variety of learning styles that encapsulate growing children at all different developmental stages. What does this mean to parents? It means that some children are shy, quiet, and like to take their time learning new skills while other children are energy-packed, vivacious, “just-let-me-at-it” learners. Our classroom environments and schedules are set up to meet the needs of both of these learners, and those in between.
My First English Adventure's curriculum is theme-based with clearly defined centers that offer the children the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the theme through fun, engaging activities ~ language arts, math, science, sensory, dramatic play, blocks and building, library, computer, and art.
Theme-based curriculum allows a child to fully explore the different aspects, and become more comfortable with, a particular topic. Using a particular theme teachers create experiences in each center that relate to the topic thus increasing the child’s range of knowledge. At The Center no matter what “play activity” the child is engaged in they are learning!
An exciting enrichment offered to all students is our Emergent Bilingual Education Program. Beginning at 18 months all the way up through prekindergarten our children learn a second language! The Emergent Bilingual Education Program is an automatic part of each day. Children are very receptive to learning a second language at a young age. Additionally, children who learn a second language can maintain attention despite outside stimuli better than children who know only one language.
Our themes (units of study) and activities are posted weekly on our Parent Boards in our school. Assessment is an on-going activity of all teaching staff. Twice each school year parents will be invited for a parent-teacher conference to discuss their child’s progress. More informal conferences are available for parents at any time.
